RECREATIONAL FASTPITCH

Rec softball is known to have a lower level of competitiveness than Travel softball to provide a better learning environment.  Any players new to the sport that are considering joining a recreational team should be made aware of the following:

  • Rec softball is a great opportunity for young girls to try out the sport to see if they enjoy the game.
  • Playing time is guaranteed. Every player who registers will play all positions equally regardless of ability.
  • No tryouts are necessary to join the program. Registered players are randomly placed on teams of their age bracket.  *If you have another player that your daughter needs to be on a team with for ease of attendance please contact Nathan Miller before the teams are selected.
  • The program consists of 6U, 8U, 10U, and 12U levels.  It is the goal to include all age levels depending on interest.  However,  age levels may be combined or changed depending on registration numbers.
  • There will be 1-2 practices a week and a recurring weekly double header games, making it easier on the family schedule.
  • The season runs from May through the end of July with games starting in June and ending with an end of season tournament the end of July.

6U Fastpitch - Ages 5-6

6u is where it all begins! At this level your daughter will learn the basic skills of softball (catching, throwing, base running and batting) We try to make it as fun as possible to keep the girls wanting more! If you have any questions please feel free to contact Niki Kahl 541-514-7464

6U will have practice 1 day a week.  Players will receive a t-shirt and we provide equipment such as bats, helmets and balls.  All they need is a glove and whatever shoes they prefer.  If players have their own bats and helmets bring them along!

8U Fastpitch - Ages 7-8

The intent of 8U fastpitch is to have fun, teach good fundamental skills and to learn the game of softball while playing in a relaxed environment.

The 8U fastpitch division is a coach-pitch level using 11 inch softballs.  Players begin to learn more of the fundamentals of the game.  There is no stealing at this level, but there is usually plenty of offense.  There are usually one or two coaches on the field to guide the players during the game.  We call it 8U fastpitch even though the coach is pitching so everyone realizes that our league is a fastpitch league and not a slow pitch league.  They will learn how to pitch the fastpitch way at 10U and may work on the fundamentals of pitching while in 8U, but coaches will pitch at the games.

8U will have practice 1 day a week and 1 game on Tuesdays in Bismarck.  Players will receive a t-shirt and we provide equipment such as bats, helmets and balls.  All they need is a glove and whatever shoes they prefer.  If players have their own bats and helmets bring them along!

10U Fastpitch - Ages 9-10

Focus is placed on learning and developing proper fastpitch technique and skills required to play at a competitive level.  Fastpitch rules may be modified to aid player development and coaches are involved in the games to make the games a continued learning environment in addition to practices.  Players will pitch during games, alternating innings with a machine/coach pitch.

Ages are determined as of December 31 prior to the current league year.

Teams practice twice a week with a double header once a week.

Girls will be given a full uniform.  All they need to bring is a glove, game socks and shoes.  Players are also welcome to bring their own helmet and bat if they have them.

12U Fastpitch - Ages 11-12

Focus is placed on applying proper fastpitch technique and continued skill development in a competitive environment.  The 12U games will play by the same ASA fastpitch rules that apply to the travel program and players will pitch every inning.

Ages are determined as of December 31 prior to the current league year.

Teams practice twice a week with a double header once a week.
